Saving the environment is not an issue anymore. It is a survival truth. Individuals, organizations and governments need to come together and join hands to protect what is left of our planet so that the future is not wiped out before it\u2019s time for curtain call. Apart from all the common citizens, Bollywood star John Abraham\u00a0has joined the\u00a0People\u00a0for the Ethical Treatment of Animals\u00a0cause. We all know John\u2019s passion for fitness and bikes, but he is equally passionate about helping unprivileged people and fighting against animal cruelty. His contribution towards the betterment of community and animals is highly noticeable. John believes animals are innocent and can\u2019t express their feelings but they equally feel the pain and pleasure as humans do.<\/p>\n

In the latest PETA ad, John tries to raise awareness about the cruelty involved in the capture, breeding, and caging of birds.<\/p>\n

“Birds aren’t meant to learn silly human words or swing in a cage,” the hunky actor says, holding an empty cage.\u00a0“They are supposed to roam free in the skies and sing songs for each other.”<\/p>\n

\"John<\/a>John Abraham makes this list for working away from the media glare and helping to create India’s first elephant village in Maharashtra with the help of local bodies and helpful communities. He was also awarded an EcoWarrior Award for helping elephants find a new home in natural surroundings.<\/p>\n

In his personal life, He is a vegetarian and is a strong advocate for animal rights.<\/p>\n

Abraham takes an interest in PETA and\u00a0Habitat for Humanity.\u00a0He donated\u00a0\u20b91\u00a0Lakh to the Lilavati Hospital and research Centre, Mumbai, according to his website.<\/p>\n

In January 2009, Abraham led a group of\u00a0Indian celebrities in the\u00a0Mumbai Marathon, an annual event to benefit the\u00a0United way. He did not run the marathon, but encouraged the participants by waving at them from the start line.<\/p>\n

In April 2013, on behalf of\u00a0PETA,\u00a0Abraham wrote a letter to Minister of Environment and Forests, Jayanthi Natarajan, asking that she make all circuses in India animal-free.<\/p>\n

John is also the celebrity supporter of\u00a0UNHCR (Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees<\/strong>) India, and promotes the cause of refugees in India. He is associated with Habitat for Humanity since 2006 and help build up over 50,000 homes in India through \u2018John\u2019s Brigade\u2019. Being an animal lover he is associated with\u00a0PETA. He recently gave his support to \u2018People for Animals\u2019 in their fight to protect and free the horses that are used to pull the Victoria carriages for sightseers and tourists. He believes that protecting the tiger is of national importance. He has donated his signed football jersey to the NGO for auction. John is the face of\u00a0The Mumbai Marathon, which is the single largest donor for 220 NGOs in the country and he is the brand ambassador for a cause that is non-commercial for him but commercial for his NGOs. Animals and plants need each other. When too many species die out too quickly, other species suffer. Plants and trees filter our water and give us oxygen. Birds help to control pests and spread seeds. Bacteria and insects make soil more fertile so that crops can grow. Humans need many different animals for food and clothes and animals need other animals for food.<\/p>\n

By 2025, as many as one fifth of all animal species, may be lost or will be gone forever. Extinction is forever. Time is running out. We all, on an individual level must act now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
